There are enough Orlando attractions to fill up many, many vacations
Orlando attractions
See our suggestions of things to do in Orlando to get you away from the theme parks and show you another side of Florida.
We will of course talk about Walt Disney World and the other popular Orlando attractions, but you might be surprised by just how many other things to do in Orlando there actually are.
We have some recommendations of great things to do but we will also be adding links to many other suggestions.
Celebration Orlando
One of our favourite Orlando trips is to see the gorgeous town of Celebration which is somewhere that you can get a real taste of America. You will find beautifully kept streets and wonderful houses with white picket fences & big veranda's. If you visit at special times such as Christmas and Halloween then you will get to see some fabulous decorations as the residents go to a good deal of effort to dress up their homes.
You will find some wonderful buildings in the main town such as this cinema, and there are plenty of shops to browse which have some really different things to look at
which makes a refreshing change from all the normal shopping.
Celebration is a great place to eat with some lovely restaurants to choose from. We had a wonderful dinner at the Marketplace Cafe with delicious food and very tasty chocolate milkshakes, we really can't recommend the food enough and it came with great service too.
If you fancy something a little more special why not try the Celebration Hotel
This a great place to enjoy afternoon tea or maybe Sunday Lunch.
Afterwards you can have a stroll around the lake and perhaps stop to relax on the rocking chairs which are laid out by the side of the lake for anyone to use.
The atmosphere around Celebration is friendly and this is without doubt our favourite of all the more diverse Orlando attactions.
Get away from it all
Another, very unique way, to experience Orlando is by floating above it!
We would strongly recommend that you try a hot air balloon ride (what else did you think we were talking about?), it needs an early start but it really is worth it - after all the weather is always beautiful in the morning isn't it?
You will get to see Orlando and its attractions in an entirely different way and experience the true beauty of Florida. Afterwards you usually enjoy a glass of champage followed by a breakfast.
Gatorland
Perhaps you want to see some of the local wildlife - probably the most famous denizen of Orlando (after a certain Mickey Mouse) is the alligator, and you will find thousands of them at Gatorland. This is a great orlando attraction and well worth a visit if you are interested in finding out more about the local alligators, and want to get up close and personal.
It is worth visiting in the morning to see more activity and while there you can visit the wrestling stadium to watch someone catch a real life alligator (think Steve Irwin
but even more mad). For more eye opening stuff go to the Gatorland Jumparoo to see huge alligators jump out of the water to be fed - it is quite awesome!
